As the warmer months approach, safety around Nepewassi Lake becomes a top priority. Below please find key updates shared by The Nepewassi Lake Association about emergency equipment that every resident and visitor should know.

AED Location Moved for Summer Accessibility

The AED, a device used to help those experiencing sudden cardiac arrest, will be moved to its summer location by Friday May 15. This timing ensures it will be ready and accessible for the busy May long weekend when more people are enjoying the lake.

Residents and visitors can find the AED location on the Emergency & Safety Info section of this website. The map clearly marks the AED spot along with fire pump locations, making it easy to plan and respond if needed.

For those who use the What3Words app, the AED’s precise location is:

significance.verifiable.scout

This three-word address offers a simple way to share the AED location quickly and accurately, especially in emergencies where every second counts.

Fire Pump Status and Locations

Fire safety is another critical concern around the lake. Currently, two of the three fire pumps are operational and ready for use:

  • Fournier dock near the Estaire boat launch

What3Words location: evilly.limes.heartache

  • Harris dock in Barlow Bay

What3Words location: customer.respectful.answering

Please Note: The third fire pump is currently not operational, so residents should be aware of this and take extra care with fire safety measures.

Why These Updates Matter

Emergencies can happen without warning, especially in outdoor settings like lakeside communities. Having quick access to an AED can save lives during cardiac emergencies. Similarly, knowing where fire pumps are located potentially prevents damage to homes and natural areas.

The Nepewassi Lake Association’s efforts to maintain and communicate these safety resources reflect a strong commitment to community well-being. Your membership supports these initiatives and helps fund ongoing safety improvements.

How to Stay Prepared

  • Familiarize yourself with the AED and fire pump locations.

  • Share this information with family and friends who visit the lake. The more people who know where to find emergency equipment, the safer everyone will be.

  • Practice basic safety precautions such as supervising children near water, avoiding open flames in dry conditions, and reporting any hazards promptly.

  • Consider joining the Nepewassi Lake Association if you are not already a member. New members are always welcome and contribute to keeping the community safe and vibrant.

Supporting a Safer Nepewassi Lake Community

The Nepewassi Lake Association relies on the support of residents and visitors to maintain safety equipment and provide timely updates. Your membership fees help cover the costs of purchasing, relocating, and servicing the AED and fire pumps, maintaining the public boat launch along with other community projects.

By staying informed and involved, you play a vital role in protecting the lake environment and everyone who enjoys it. Safety is a shared responsibility, and these updates are a reminder that preparedness saves lives.
